This Year in Review

My twin sister and I (I am in the sunglasses)

This year has been a year of making many life changing decisions.  It has also been a year that I realized that life can change in an instant.

This year has been a good year.  My parents, husband, son, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews are all healthy.  There have been a couple of illnesses, but nothing life changing.

I got a new to me car in January.  I was so excited and it seemed  like the perfect car.  I soon realized that if I am driving for over an hour, my back hurts.  Anything over 3 hours has me in complete discomfort.  I look forward to when I move because I can sell the car!   Lesson learned: tell the salesperson I am driving my next car for an hour before I buy it.  Anyone else have a car that they dislike?

In February, I started entering sweepstakes.  I love winning!  My family thinks I am the luckiest gal alive, BUT I guess they don't understand I only win a small percentage of the things I enter.  This year, I would love to win $1000+ cash, pots and pans, a car, iPad and laptop.  We will see if I win any of that this year.

April was my 11th wedding anniversary.  I love that man so much.

On May 29th, my son turned 11 and my husband broke his ankle, which required surgery.  My son didn't quite get the birthday we had anticipated, and him breaking his ankle ruined our family financially.  I still loved him, but we annoy each other after awhile.  Probably the hardest part was not being able to afford health insurance while he was out of work and knowing the amount of hospital and physical therapy bills that were coming in.   That is when I realized that in the morning, everything can be fine and by the end of the night, things can happen that can change the course of someone's life.

In August, my husband went back to work and found out that he was getting a huge pay cut.  YIPPEE!!  .  That is just what we needed.  Sometime before September 1st, we decided we just couldn't afford to live in our house.  Our roof had started to leak, which we cannot afford to fix.  We have a wonderful blue tarp over our roof.   My husband has a wonderful job waiting for him across the country, but we need to sell the house first.

September rolled around.  That is the month I was born in.  I do love celebrating my birthday, but I knew that my husband couldn't afford to get me anything.  That was a bitter-sweet day for me.  I love opening presents, but I knew that I wasn't going to be getting anything from my husband.  How could I selfishly expect a present when we had a hard enough time getting food on the table?  I finally realized that I don't need a gift to open from my husband... those are just things.  Let me tell you, I think I gained a lot of wisdom this year.  I didn't even get to see my husband on my birthday because I was in the hospital with a full blown asthma attack and he had to take care of our son.  My mom was by my side the entire time though.

November my husband had to get his ankle opened up again to take the metal out since his leg had an infection.  The incision is starting to open up again.

2011 is going to be a year of many changes that were planned this year.  I hope that my son will make new friends when we move.  I hope that we are able to find a rental house that will allow us to have both large dogs.  I hope that my husband's ankle will finally heal.  I pray that there are no emergencies in our family.

Was 2010 a good year for you?  Did you learn any important lessons?  What is one thing you hope for in 2011?

I hope you all have a great New Year!  Be Safe!
