Comfort and Joy

As Thanksgiving approaches, it is a wonderful time to share what makes me thankful, joyful and comfortable.  I want to say thanks to twittermoms and Kleenex for teaming up and coming up with the great idea to share what brings comfort and joy to our life with my readers.  We should really think about being happy all year long.  Thinking of writing this post has made me think of the positive points in my life, which has made me happier tonight.

The people who follow my blog know that my husband has had a problem with his ankle healing since surgery the beginning of June.  He is the main money earner.  I make small amounts doing family history work and from royalties from a genealogy book that was published.  Our church has a Bishop's Storehouse that gives families in need food.  I am so thankful that there are organization's that can help people when they are down on their luck.  We didn't have to worry about feeding our family during this stressful time.  We also have help paying our mortgage when we haven't been able to save all the money.  If it weren't for the kindness of other people, we would be in debt.  We wouldn't be able to survive.  Because of the things that have happened, we now know the difference between the needs and the wants in life.

My son has a modest amount of clothing, but he has everything he needs.  My brother helped in the beginning of the school year by buying my son new shoes in school.  He didn't want my son to be embarrassed because they knew that most of my son's schoolmates would have new shoes and clothing.  He also bought my son new shirts.  I am fortunate that my son understands that right now we don't have as money as we need.  He understands that this year will be a modest year for presents.  I haven't bought any new clothing for myself for over a year, the last person who bought me clothes was my twin sister.  She knows how good a new outfit is for the self-esteem.

My family brings me the most joy out of anything else in the world.  Both of my parents are still living, 2 of my brothers and both of my sisters still live within 10 minutes of me.  I am fortunate to have one son and a husband.  My son is a little comedian.  This past week, he came home and asked me what the name of romantic comedies should be.  He said "vomities".  It made me laugh.  He is at the age where romantic comedies are disgusting... anyone kissing is disgusting actually.  My husband thinks I am the most beautiful person in the world.  I disagree with him, but I know that he loves me.

I love helping people with their family history work.  I love seeing the pure happiness on people's face when they learn a new fact about their family.  I do the family history work for a living, but I also volunteer by helping people.

Another thing that brings me happiness is entering sweepstakes.  I spend a couple hours a day entering.  I guess the thing that brings me the happiness is when the time I have taken to enter any sweepstakes, contest or giveaway ends with me being the WINNER!  Do any of you love entering sweepstakes or blog contests as well?

I hope that you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Thanks to all of you for reading my blog.  I hope that you all have a chance to think about what brings comfort and joy to your life.  If you would like, I would love to read what brings you comfort and joy.
