My 4th of July

Here in Upstate New York, we have had ozone pollution warnings, so we have tried to stay indoors where it was cool.  It is hard to stay indoors during the summer, but since my family members suffer from asthma, it was the best idea.

Each of my siblings and I bought a pound of our favorite lunch meat and brought it over to my parents.  It was too hot to cook, so we had a sandwich buffet.  It was great having an informal gathering with the people I love the most.

About 10 pm, the fireworks finally started.  My son wanted to keep playing with his friends, but I made him stop so he could watch the display.  My 2 year old nephew kept asking "What is that sound?" and had his ears covered the whole time.

I am thankful to live in a country where we can write what we want as long as we aren't harming anyone.  I am thankful that I can worship as I please.  I am so thankful for my family.  My father was a Vietnam War Veteran and am thankful for his service to his country and all other service people's service to their country.

God Bless the USA!
