Going to church feels so right

I was raised in a family that went to church every single Sunday.  One of our parents would always bring us, unless we were really sick.  As I grew up, I stopped going.  I thought "I know everything God wants me to know since I have been going to church for the last 17 years."

For me, it has been seeming like something has been missing in my life.  Yes, I still believe that God exists and that Jesus is my Savior and Redeemer, but I was definitely just going along with life.   I went to church last week and this week and somehow life seems easier for me.  It seems like I am more patient with my son and husband, and actually want to do things more to help people on this earth.

In church we should learn more of our purpose on this earth.  After not going for awhile, I know I was losing some of the spiritual feeling.  This week the most important lesson I learned was to keep track of the messages and feelings we get from the Holy Spirit..  Yes, I believe that the Holy Ghost can help us with life because that is how God communicates with us.

One of the woman in the class said "I journal about messages I have received."  For instance, have you ever stalled at a stoplight for no reason, then saw a car speed through a red light.  You KNOW that you would have been in a devastating crash if you would have went.  Why do you think you didn't go through the light?  I believe it is God protecting us.

I stopped going to church when I was 14 because I heard someone talking about how annoying I was.  I would go off and on, but I was definitely offended.  Back then, I didn't tell people what I was thinking (now I would have told the person I heard what they said and it hurt my feelings).  I figure now that I should go to church because that is what God and Jesus want me to do.  I shouldn't go for anyone else except for my son and I.

For those that went to church today, what was the most important lesson you learned?  For those that use to go to church, but don't anymore, is there a reason you don't go?  Have any of you ever been saved by the Lord's mercy?

  1. Going to church refreshes me every week. It gets my mind off myself and re focused where it should be. On God. And when I focus my life that way stress is so easier to deal with.

I am lucky to be in a great supportive church.
I guess my lesson for yesterday was checking my attitude. My negative thinking.
